Mango Iced Tea

If you are in the mood for something cold, fruity and refreshing, without being too sweet, this Mango Iced Tea is just perfect. What I love about this recipe is how simple and real it is, while also being easily adjustable to your own taste. No fake syrups or powdered mixes, that barely taste like the real thing, just fresh mango, brewed tea and a bit of natural sweetness.

You can go with black tea if you want a deeper, richer flavor or use green tea for something lighter and smooth. Either way, the mango gives it this tropical twist that works beautifully with both.

Another thing I really love is how easy it is to make ahead. Just keep a pitcher in the fridge to bring out in the most perfect moment of the day. Pour over ice and, add lemon slice or a few mint leaves and suddenly it feels like you’re sipping on sunshine on a glass.

You can make this iced drink with also other fruits like peaches or strawberry and experiment with all the unique combinations.

What You’ll Need

  • Ripe mango (fresh or frozen)
  • Tea bags (black or green)
  • Water
  • Sweetener of choice (optional – like honey, maple syrup, or sugar)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh lemon (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Tips

  • Use very ripe mangoes for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Taste your mango first—if it’s super sweet, you can reduce the sugar slightly or viceversa.
  • Feel free to experiment with green or herbal teas if you prefer a different base.
  • Blending a bit of the pulp gives the tea a richer mango flavor without making it too thick. If using a regular blender, let the mixture cool first for safety.
  • Keep any leftover strained mango pieces in a sealed container for 2–3 days and use them in smoothies, yogurt, or oatmeal.

Storage:

Store mango iced tea in the fridge for up to 3 days. Stir well before serving.

Variations to Try

  • Green tea version: Use green tea instead of black for a lighter, earthier flavor.
  • Minty mango: Add fresh mint while steeping or muddle a few leaves into the final drink for a cooling effect.
  • Sparkling mango iced tea: Top with sparkling water before serving for a fizzy finish.
  • Citrus twist: Add a few slices of orange or lemon to the pitcher for extra zing.
  • Frozen treat: Pour leftovers into popsicle molds for a refreshing summer snack.

Cook Time 5 minutes
Servings: 2
Course: Drinks

Ingredients

  • 500 ml water 2 cups + 2 tbsp
  • 1 ripe mango peeled and chopped
  • 2 tea bags green or black tea recommended
  • 40 g sugar 3 tbsp
  • Ice to serve

Method

  1. Add the chopped mango, sugar, and water to a small pot. For best flavor, make sure your mango is perfectly ripe.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring every once in a while.
  3. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
  5. Optional: For extra mango flavor, blend a small portion of the mango pulp directly in the pot using an immersion blender. Just a little goes a long way, blending all the pulp will make the tea too thick.
  6. Strain the mixture over ice and garnish with fresh lemon or mint leaves. Enjoy!
