Berry Mousse (Protein-Packed & Dairy-Free)

A few years ago, if you’d told me I’d me making a dessert with tofu, i would have laughed out loud, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover this delicious way to make berry “mousse”.

This Berry Tofu Mousse is one of those recipes that makes you wonder how something so creamy and satisfying can be so easy. With silken tofu, a touch of nut butter and a little maple syrup for extra sweetness, it’s a dreamy mix of plant-based protein and fruity flavor. Just throw all the ingredients in a blender, chill and enjoy.

Perfect for a quick dessert, a snack or even for a high protein breakfast that feels like a treat. The silken tofu makes it silky and smooth and the nut butter adds a nice nutty richness and the berries give it a fresh fruity flavor.

Ingredients You’ll Need

(See full recipe below for exact amounts)

  • Silken tofu
  • Mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Vanilla extract
  • Peanut butter or almond butter

Tips

  • Use silken tofu for the smoothest, creamiest texture, other types won’t blend as smooth.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness after blending the berries, especially if they’re very ripe or tart.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute the nut butter with sunflower seed butter or leave it out entirely for a lighter mousse.
  • For a chocolatey version, feel free to add a tbsp of cacao powder and even some melted chocolate.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours to get the best texture, overnight is even better.

Storage

Store the mousse in an airtight container or covered ramekins in the fridge for up to 3–4 days. Not recommended for freezing as the texture may separate. You can portion it into small jars or ramekins for easy grab-and-go snacks or dessert cups.

Variations

  • Make it nut-free: Use sunflower seed butter or tahini
  • Go chocolatey: Add 1 tbsp cocoa powder for a chocolate berry twist
  • Add crunch: Serve with crushed granola or roasted nuts on top
